David Macarty OD, PC
Dr. Macarty graduated from Midwest City High School in 1982 and then continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He was presented the Biological Services Award in 1986 and was a member of Beta Beta Beta, an honorary biological fraternity. Upon graduation he continued his education at Northeastern Oklahoma State University (NSU), Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He graduated from the NSU College of Optometry in 1991.
After graduation, Dr. Macarty began his optometric career with Dr. Bennett Wray, O.D., Altus, Oklahoma. In 1995, he left Dr. Wray’s office and became the clinic director for the Western Oklahoma Eye Center. In December of 1996, Dr. Macarty purchased his own practice here in Cordell.
Since 1991, Dr. Macarty has been an active and proud member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP). For two years, he served on the OAOP Board of Directors and is currently serving as the chairman of the OAOP membership committee. Dr. Macarty is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA).
Dr. Macarty’s community service and volunteer work includes graduating from Leadership Altus (Class of 1994), President of the Jackson County United Way (1996) Altus Rotary Club, Director of Club Service and was elected president. He is a past president and current member of the Cordell Rotary Club. He attends the First United Methodist Church of Cordell where he has served as the chairman of the Staff/Pastor/Parish Relations committee. Currently,Dr. Macarty and his wife Lori serve as the co-chairpersons for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Washita County.
Most importantly, he enjoys spending his time with his wife Lori and their two daughters, Alyssa, age 15, and Kristen, age 11.
